Transform your smartphone into a digital microscope with BLIPS
Ever thought how you can use your smartphone rather than just calling, texting or capturing selfies? Well, SmartMicroOptics wants to show how powerful your smartphones are. The European company has made a set of thin, stick-on mini lenses that transform your smartphone into a portable, digital microscope. Named as BLIPS, these lenses come in a pack for macro and micro shots, cling on with reusable adhesive, and are thin enough (between 0.5 millimeters and 1.2 millimeters thick) to fit into your purse or wallet.
SmartMicroOptics, creator of BLIPS says the lenses were developed in the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genoa, Italy and are the world’s slimmest available for smartphones. The proper amount of magnification relies on the smartphone, but with the correct digital zoom, you can magnify images up to 100 times. The technology is pretty cheap that any hobbyist can use them to explore the world around them. However, the company claims that the lenses can also be used by the professionals- be it scientific fieldwork or art restoration.
The product is currently available on Kickstarter and has already surpassed the goal of €15,000 with a total of €200,187. The campaign will be closed within three days. So, if you want one for yourself, order right now.
