  1. I don't know why people would update in the first place. My 5s is still at iOS 7 and is smooth and fast as fk. The only problem is the battery life.
People know well: every updates just get worse – Snapchat is worse, WhatsApp is worse, Facebook is worse, Instagram…
I just need a phone that is durable, which I can text or make phone calls, and functions normally as a phone should be. I know I'd miss the new features, but to be honest I don't need them cuz they're quite useless for me.

  2. iOS 8 is definitely faster. The whole system performs at a higher framerate. I bought my iPhone 5s last summer, and I had iOS 8 for about 2 months…then I updated straight to 9.1, and I regret that till today. Not only did I lose that perfect performance, but I also lost 20-25% on battery life. I used to get 8h-8h30 of use (my best was 8h40) out of one charge, and on iOS 9 the best I got so far was reaching 1% at 6h40m.

Now, if I go out at night, my battery doesn't last long enough.

I would downgrade right away if I could. No hesitations.

Now I'm on 9.3.1, and honestly I'm thinking about never updating again.
