The Priv is unique because it is the first BlackBerry smartphone running Android. In fact, by the looks of it BlackBerry hasn’t customised the Android user interface much as it operates more or less like stock Android lollipop. However, under the hood, BlackBerry has made drastic changes. It has re-written the kernel of Android to make it secure.
This means that the Priv is as secure as a BlackBerry 10 smartphone. BlackBerry even claims that you can’t change the launcher on the phone because of the customisations.
